Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a tool that uses a camera to visualize the inside of certain organs or even the inside of a body cavity. In exotic animals, we use our endoscope to examine patients’ teeth, throats, stomachs and colons, tracheas, and the cloacas of birds and reptiles.
 
We can also use the endoscope to grasp and remove foreign objects, or to take samples from the area we are examining. It is also a useful tool for intubating (placing a breathing tube for surgery) in rabbits and other small mammals.
